Guadiamar Tech Corridor, a spatial strategy on eco-innovation

We were commissioned to build up a powerful narrative for the most successful technology-driven productive transformations in Southern Spain in the last 20 years. Very close to emblematic Doñana Nature Park and Seville metropolitan area, the area was heavily polluted by the mining disaster of Aznacollar in 1998. The recovery works and investments were envisaged as a momentum to initiate a large-scale productive mutation; a radical change in the development pattern for the area.

However, that process was also demanding its own storytelling, including the visual dimension, in order to brand the area as a benchmark in eco-innovation, and increasing therefore both attractiveness for potential investors and sense of place for residents and existing companies. This TASO report, delivered in 2010, led to a completely new territorial reading of the area, as well as an alignment of an array of emerging processes, assets and even societal trends located there. This work can thus be envisaged as a new-generation industrial policy document.

Informe sobre la experiencia de mutación productiva más relevante acontecida en Andalucía en los últimos 20 años. La cuenca del Guadiamar no sólo ha asistido a su completa recuperación ambiental, mejorando incluso su situación previa al vertido provocado por la rotura de la balsa de estériles de la mina de Aznalcóllar. También ha iniciado la mutación de su base productiva hacia un modelo de desarrollo basado en la sostenibilidad y en vectores tecnológicos vinculados a la eco-innovación, que se articulan en dos parques SOLAND y PAMA, que albergan sendos clusters en renovables y en tecnologías del reciclado
