Making the most of a rising social economy
Scoping paper “Making the most of a rising social economy for regeneration strategies in deprived urban areas”, commissioned by SURE, URBACT network on socio-economic rehabilitation in deprived urban areas. 2011.
In this thematic input, TASO approaches social economy and social enterprise as a trend that is shaping the new post-crisis economic landscape. An increasingly mainstream feature, which goes far beyond aid and charity. Michael Porter´s concept of shared value or the emergence of a more social-oriented “Schumpeterian man” are given evidence on the need to revisit social enterprise as a tool in local development. From social enterprise as a category itself (the so called “third sector”) to be truly considered as a cross-cutting driver.
